Callaspo and KC snap ChiSox winning streak

07/04/2009 - Kansas City, MO (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Alberto Callaspo went 2-for-3 and hit the go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning, as the Kansas City Royals came back to top the White Sox, 6-4, and snap Chicago's seven-game win streak.

Callaspo tripled, walked and finished with three total runs batted in for Kansas City, which had dropped the first two contests of this four-game set, in addition to its last four games overall. Brayan Pena hit a solo homer for the Royals.

Kansas City starter Luke Hochevar (4-3) took the win, though he gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks in six innings. He also struck out three. Joakim Soria notched his 11th save of the season with a perfect ninth.

Chicago's Gavin Floyd (6-6) did not allow a hit through four innings, but fell apart over the remainder of his 5 1/3-inning start. Floyd allowed five runs on four hits and three walks, with four strikeouts.

Jermaine Dye had a two-run homer and Gordon Beckham belted a solo shot for the White Sox, who hadn't dropped a game since a 5-4 loss to the Cubs on June 26.

Trailing, 4-2, entering the bottom of the sixth, the Royals got a rally started with a leadoff single from Willie Bloomquist. He stole second before Billy Butler walked, and Jose Guillen's fielder's choice left runners on the corners.

Mark Teahen's single then plated Bloomquist and chased Floyd from the game, as Chicago brought in Matt Thornton. Pinch-hitter Pena grounded out, but the play advanced the runners for Callaspo, whose single to right got Guillen and Teahen home for a 5-4 KC lead.

After Juan Cruz and John Bale each pitched a perfect inning of relief for Kansas City, Pena's solo homer in the eighth gave the Royals a two-run cushion. Soria worked a 1-2-3 ninth to close the game.

Dewayne Wise's RBI single in the second got the White Sox on the scoreboard, and Dye's two-run shot in the third made it a 3-0 game.

Callaspo's RBI triple and Mitch Maier's sacrifice fly in the fifth got a pair of runs back for the Royals, but Beckham homered in the top of the sixth.

Game Notes

Each team went 2-for-6 with runners in scoring position...Dye's homer was his 19th of the season, while Beckham hit his third...Hochevar has a 2-0 record and 2.70 ERA over his last three starts.

MySportsbook.com refunds all bets on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay from NFL week one.

(September 14) – Week one of NFL action saw three teams go scoreless for the first time since 1977.  Another four were unable to get a touchdown and almost half of the underdogs covered the spread. Those three teams saved bettors at MySportsbook.com from losing out completely, thanks to the company’s unique NFL Shutout Rule -- which ensures that if the team you backed goes scoreless, your wager is refunded.

Sportsbook refunded tens of thousands of dollars to customers who bet on Oakland, Green Bay and Tampa Bay, the three teams that stunk up the field so badly that their fans and backers never had a chance to get up from their couches and cheer.  In the spirit of the low scoring start to the season, odds makers at the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino have set odds on how many total shutouts there will be this season.

MySportsbook.com has posted updated sports betting lines for week two of the season.  Ben Roethlisberger’s health status is still questionable, so Willie Parker will try to lead Pittsburgh again as they travel to Jacksonville as a one point favorite.  After beating up on his little brother last week, Peyton Manning will look to lead the Colts to victory against Houston. Indianapolis is a whopping 13.5 favorite in the match-up.

Seattle, last year’s highest scoring team, showed the power of their defense with their gritty 9-6 win in Motown over the ravenous Lions.  They take their act back home to the comforts of Qwest Field where they will face the resurgent Arizona Cardinals.  The Seahawks are favored by a touchdown.
